How long did it take you to figure out who the half blood prince was. I figured it out right away. I also knew who was going to die at the end, although the bit about Snape wow...

That should do it for the people that don't want to read spoilers. As for the halfblood prince, I didn't figure it out until the end but it makes sense. I liked the flow of this book more than 5 over all. I'm very sad to see Dumblador killed. I honestly really liked him, flaws and all. Maybe I should've seen it coming, but I didn't. Here's the part I really thought was done badly.. The fact that she put Harry and Jinny together, bothers me. My biggest problem with it was the fact that it was just out of the blue. Harry had never shown any interest before. As those who may have seen me on an hp fanfic site might see, I'm in support of a different ship. However, I would've been willing to accept it if she'd written it better. But to create it out of the blue like that just doesn't work for me. Also, Snape turning on Dumblador like that absolutely rangles with me. Snape oculd've been used as such a good way of showing trhat people can change from the dark, and that personal dislike doesn't mean they don't have redeming quallities. So over all I'd probably give it 3.5 stars. I like it, but I honestly think some of the alternates I've read were better. I still intend to read number seven though.

I would have liked Harry and Hermione to be together. And I honestly thought Snape was on Dumbledore's side.

Post 7 by Ukulele<3 (Try me... You know you want to.) on Monday, 18-Jul-2005 7:46:08

hahah Maria!!! I didn't figure out who the half blood prince was till they said it!!! I had no idea at all!!! As for Snape, I did wish that he hadn't turned on Dumbledore like that!!! I thought this book was very very disappointing at the end but still do plan to read book 7 too. It was kind of weird for Harry to like Ginny. I don't think his g/f should have been Hermione either because I've always believed that Ron and her were meant to be. But maybe someone other than Ginny. I liked this book because I thought some parts were really funny. For example, when Harry was telling Ron and Hermione about having heard the prophacy and Hermione squeezed the telescope, I thought something horrible had happened. It was a good laugh!!! Any more thoughts on book 6???

More thoughts on HBP:

Ok, Harry and Ginny together? O no no no. I wanted Harry and Hermione together. I'm glad they broke up at the end. I hope they never get back together.
I think Hermione and Ron won't work, cos they fight way way too much.
I'm not sure if I liked Ron with Lavender together, but not sure who I would want him with. I would have said Katie, but she's too old for him, so maybe the other girl who plays Quidditch. I don't remember her name now.

Snape is the halfblood prince.
I figured this out pretty early on in the book cos Harry was doing so well in potions gave it away.

Ok, when Draco fucks up Harry on the train and that spell Harry uses on Draco to make him bleed all over. This book really not for little kids at all!

Snape kills Dumbledore.
Maybe Dumbledore and Snape had some kind of agreement.
When Dumbledore and Harry got back to Hogwarts, he spasifically asked for Snape not Pomfrey.
Dumbledore pleads with Snape. Maybe he thought to sacrifice his life to save Draco and Harry.
I don't think Snape really wanted to kill Dumbledore cos he was really the only one who truely trusted him.
Maybe Snape did it cos of the vow he made with Narcissa, so felt he had no choice.
However, Snape stops the DeathEater from using Crucio on Harry and does not force Harry to come with him to Voldemort.
So hmm... not sure what to think of Snape anymore...

Who do you think R.A.B. is?
I thought someone with the last name Black, but then all of them dark wizards except for Sirious, so not sure or maybe Regulus Black?

Bil and Fleur I don't like them together much at all.
Poor Bill though!

Lupin and Tonks? Love that!

I like that Hermione and Ron said that they would stick by Harry no matter what to the end.

There's probably other things I'll add later.

Hi all. I agree that Sape must've been in cahoots with Dumbledore. I think he told snape to kill him if he was in a bind like that, for two reasons. One, because of draco's involvement and the bond and two, because it would give the dark lord one final test of his faith which he passed. I knew harry would break up with Ginny, but why at the funeral? A little bit better plannig I think, and it was weird how ron just starts kissign Lavender. I wasn'tt o disapointed in the book, not as much humor as i would've liked, but I realize they're dark times. Bill and Flur good job, she shows she isn't fazed by looks, though the remark is I'm good lookign enough for the both of us was somewhat rude. Remus should let Tonks love him.

oh Vel!!! I'm glad you finally got the book!!! I still think Snape is bad through and through!!! How can he just kill Voldemort like that??? And why did he find it necessary to stun Flitwick??? Grayback was another character that scared me. He just seems so evil!!! I hope Harry kills him in the 7th book!!! What did you guys think of the infiry things??? hahahah I can't spell. lolol!!! I thought they were really scary!!! I guess the thought of an army of dead bodies just seems too awful!!! But it's cool that they don't like fire. As for R.A.B., I have no idea who it could be!!! I know that it has to be a death eater because the note says, "to the Dark Lord," and only Death Eaters call Voldemort that.

Howdie, well I just finished it last night, sad sad sad, I didn't want Dumblador to end like that but I guess I could see it coming. I kinda expected him to come back somehow but I guess not, I Kinda thought ginny might reappear with harry in the next book. I know he broke up with her but I think there future isn't finished I've allways seen her with harry and hermonie with ron deffinately! snape needs to die, I've allways like his charictor but he does need to die now!
coward! grin

Just finished. So sad about Dumbledore. I can sort of understand why she did it, but why Snape? I was hoping he'd be on the good side. As for Snape being the Half-blood Prince, I was surprised by that since I'd spent most of the book thinking it was Riddle back again. On the relationship front, Harry/Ginny was ok, though I think it was right of Harry to break it off in the end. I too had another relationship in mind, though I'm not sure that'll happen, Harry doesn't seem to be atracted to the person in question, although he never showed any outward signs of his attraction to Ginny either. Very happy about Ron/Hermione. Come on, they fight all the time, ytonks is just adorable. ou know they must have feelings for each other. And Lupin/

I’ve just finished read the book(in small print) yesterday. Well I like it more than the other books. And everything that happened during the whole story is connected even the small details. It all fits together. It was okay till it went to a point where the school year was about to end, its always been like that. I think book 7 will be Harry trying to destroy all the four remaining souls and defeat the dark lord. Well the whole thing was fun reading and yes, theres a lot of kissing. Its certainly different from the rest of the books. Hey do you all think that Harry is compatible with Ginny. Too bad he broke up with her. I bet one of the first chapters of book 7 is about Bill and Flaur getting married. Hmm and I hope that Ron and Hermionie can be a couple. Hey lets just see. I can’t wait for book 7 to come that will take about like two years or so. What a long wait.
Theres another thing it really fits everything knowing that Snape owns the Half - Blood Prince’s book because his been teaching potions for a long time and its really good to know that he is a death eater. I did not like his character from the start.

I finished SUnday after it came out. I liked it a lot. It was sad though. It took me forever to figure out who the HBP was, butI knew ---- was gonna die, ya know. Cuz it just seemed like it.

Post 17 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Sunday, 12-Mar-2006 11:31:41

I got my copy of HBP last August and it took me around a week to read through it all, sometimes reading through the night to find out how it ended. Mum caught me zonked out one morning with a volume lying open on my chest from when I'd been reading it before sleep took me. I had no idea Dumbledore would be JK Rowling's next victim, when I started the book I had no idea he was the one who'd die at the end of chapter 27 when his lifeless body would fall 150 feet off the astronomy tower. I just froze in bed like Harry on top of the tower where Dumbledore had put a full bodybind curse on him, just stunned out of my mind. Like Harry, I fell through space with Dumbledore's body. I honestly thought Madam Pomphrey or even Snape would help him, not kill him when he arrived back at Hogwarts with Harry after they collected the fake locket. It was just horrible, the way it ended, just like that, Avada Kedavra. I hope Snape lives long enough to regret ever being born, ever existing, long enough for Harry or any of Dumbledore's fans to do away with him, including me. He must never get away with it.

I thought that he would die in this book, because she kept saying in the fourth book how tired he looked, etc.

I have to say, I never thought the killing curse would finish Dumbledore off. I thought he ws too powerful, too good, too, you know? strong and masterful to be killed, just as Voldemort is on the opposing side.
